Sanctuary of Hope

Urgency: Our Shelter Lease Ends in December 2025

Our current shelter, which has been a lifeline for thousands of rescued animals, is on borrowed time. The lease expires in December 2025, and there is no option for renewal. This means that if we do not complete the construction of our new permanent sanctuary before December, we will have nowhere to house the animals under our care.

Construction requires at least six months, making this an urgent and time-sensitive project. We have already built the boundary wall, but now we must begin the next phase—including kennels, catteries, equine sheds, farm animal sheds, and a much-needed hospital.

Why This Sanctuary is Crucial

At Tahira Animal Welfare Foundation (TAWF), we rescue abandoned, injured, abused, and neglected animals—many of whom cannot survive on their own. The new sanctuary will be a safe haven for these animals, providing:

Healing & Rehabilitation Zones: Separate designated areas for animals recovering from injuries, surgeries, or rescues.
TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) Section: A dedicated area for spaying, neutering, and vaccinating stray dogs and cats before their safe return to their territories.
Natural Habitats for Recovered Animals: Safe, enriched enclosures for animals who cannot be released back to the wild due to injuries, disabilities, or trauma.
Permanent Shelter for Vulnerable Animals: Many of the animals we rescue cannot survive on the streets again—this sanctuary will be their forever home.

Without this sanctuary, these animals will have nowhere to go.

Planned Facilities: What Needs to Be Built

To ensure proper care, treatment, and rehabilitation, the sanctuary will include:

🐶 Dog Kennels and SanctuarySpacious and secure kennels where rescued dogs can recover in a safe, stress-free environment. Once they heal, they will move into open sanctuary areas where they can live freely and safely.

🐱 Cattery – A dedicated sanctuary for stray and abandoned cats.

🦜 Aviary – A safe space for rescued birds who need long-term care.

🐴 Equine Sheds – Shelters for donkeys, horses, and mules who have been rescued from abuse or harsh labor conditions.

🐄 Farm Animal Shed – Housing for rescued cows, goats, and sheep who were abandoned or mistreated.

🐆 Wild Animal Enclosure – A specially designed space for wild animals who cannot be released back into their natural habitat due to injury or captivity history.

🏥 Hospital & Medical Center – One of the most critical components of the sanctuary, providing:

  • Emergency Treatments for rescued and injured animals.
  • Surgeries and Post-Operative Care for critical cases.
  • Diagnostic Testing to identify diseases, infections, and injuries.

Our Biggest Challenge: Funding

Although we have successfully built the boundary wall, the entire construction is still ahead of us. This sanctuary is not just a dream—it is a necessity to continue our work. Without it, we cannot keep saving lives. We need to raise £90,000 to complete this construction, but we cannot do this alone.
